Bullying No Way!

Bullying No Way!

Bullying No Way!

On Friday 17 March 2017, Bakewell Primary School participated as a Whole School in the National Day of Action (NDA) against Bullying. It was a great opportunity for our school community to 'take a stand together' against bullying.

Bullying is when someone:

  • keeps picking on you again and again and tries to make you feel bad
  • says or does lots of mean things that upset you
  • makes fun of you a lot
  • tries to stop you from joining in or make others not like you
  • keeps hurting you such as hitting or punching you.

Bullying is not okay. You have the right to feel safe.

The Minister for Education, The Honourable Eva Lawler, MLA, visited Bakewell Primary School to talk to our Student Leadership Council (SLC) about their involvement in this year’s NDA and to present awards to winning schools via Skype.

Our Student Leadership Committee has worked to develop short films about Bullying with a particular focus on positive by-stander behaviour. These short films were submitted as part of a Student Voice Northern Territory School wide competition.

We are very pleased to announce that one of the entries created by the Bakewell’s SLC was regarded very highly by the Student Voice Competition judging panel, which consisted of students from various schools around the Northern Territory.
